CSU 52 INSIDE WORKERS SUPPORTED BY IBEW 1007
February 8, 2024
On February 6, the City of Edmonton announced that it has taken the extraordinary step of engaging the Alberta Labour Relations Board to conduct a proposal vote of CSU 52 members on the City’s “Best and Final Offer” provided to CSU 52 during mediation. A proposal vote allows the City to go around CSU 52 and have its members vote on whether to accept the City’s “Best and Final Offer”. The City has also indicated that in the near future it will apply for a lockout vote.
The City’s “Best and Final Offer” for wages to CSU 52 members is a 7.25% increase over five years.
CSU 52 is asking its members for a strike mandate as it views the five year offer as unacceptable. CSU 52’s strike vote is being conducted February 9-12, 2024. The City is asking for its proposal vote to occur February 14-20, 2024.
