Vote results – Letter of Understanding for Technologies

Therefore I will not sign the Letter of Understanding. Many people have asked what will happen now but I don’t believe anyone knows the answer to that question. It obviously takes away the option of Technologies using the letter to deal with the COVID crisis. EPCOR has not shared with me what other options they are considering.

I realize I said I would post the results “immediately” after the vote, however, that wasn’t possible. I was in meetings with the other Civic Unions and the City of Edmonton from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm on Friday. We had an face-to-face emergency meeting at the IBEW Union Hall on Friday night, and virtual meetings all weekend. We signed a Temporary Layoff and Recalls Letter of Understanding at 5:07 pm on Sunday.

As I write this around 2:00 pm on Monday, March 30th, the city has announced temporary layoffs for over 2,000 employees. 1,600 in Citizen Services and 489 in Edmonton Public Library.

I’ll post as often as I can.
